Har-ki-doon or the valley of Gods, and is probably named so because of its incomparable beauty. At 3500 meters, this is one of the classic treks in Garhwal region of Himalayas. The Trail from Sankri takes you to some of the least explored area in the valley, surrounded by dense forest, rich fauna and shining peaks. The trek is relatively easy even in months of winter, and can be further extended to Ruinsara tal, Jaudhar Glaciar and Maninda Tal. From Ruinsara one can see a splendid view of Swargarohini range peaks.
Arrival at Dehradoon in the morning. Meet your guides and after having breakfast drive to Sankri via Mussoorie, Kempty falls, Purola and Mori. This is starting point of our trek. Overnight in tourist rest house/tent.
From Sankri the road passes through dense forest with gorgeous views over the valley. Taluka, a small village nestled in the laps of nature is located at the altitude of 1900 meters. It has guest houses and a few shack shops providing daily provisions to the local inhabitants. Overnight in tourist rest house/tent.
The trail from Taluka village initially descends and then continues gradually on the true left of the valley adjoining the river Rupin. Later the trail winds up the beautiful forest of chestnut, walnut and willows and continues to the village of Gangar. Here cross the side stream and continue to climb to see settlement of picturesque Osla village at a distant on the true right of the valley. Continue to trek to Seema, the campsite just opposite to the village of Osla separated by the swift river. Seema is a small tourist hub with shops of limited supplies, a forest rest house and tourist Bunglow. Overnight in tourist rest house/tent.
The trail from Seema initially continues on the true left of the valley, goes past fields followed by crossing a hanging bridge over river Rupin, to the true right of the valley. The trail now ascends and goes through fields and pastures with huts. The coniferous forests on the opposite side of the valley makes for an awesome sight. The trail climbs to the ridge locally named as Kalkatti Dhar opening up to magnificent views of Har Ki Dun. From here initially the trail climbs gradually and later gets steep at times, taking you through beautiful meadows to the campsite at Har Ki Dun. The campsite is by a small stream, with peaks of Har Ki Dun and Swargarohini towering above. Overnight in the tents.
The day is for relaxation and exploration. You can explore Morinda Lake in the first half of the day, followed by Jaundhar Glacier post lunch. Overnight camp.
The reverse trek to the village of Osla is an easy walk which gives a lot of opportunity to admire the beautiful valley. The trek to Osla will take around 3-4 hours. Overnight in tourist rest house/tent.
The walk towards Taluka village is equally easy as the previous day. The views down the valley are something that you will never forget. Overnight in rest house/ hotel.
The last day's walk is easy and takes you through the forest and on well made road. On arriving at Sankri we bid farewell to ponies and porters. Board the vehicle and start the drive towards Dehradoon.
